The process-based work Endo Coisa [Endo Thing] deals with the transformation process from one mode of existence to another. It investigates what hidden information lies between different materialities and what conclusions these allow about the environment. For here lies buried knowledge about our environment that can only be grasped when preconceived and given categories are broken open.
For the work, plants are deprived of vital chlorophyll (leaf green), which is then absorbed as pure color pigment by mineral crystals growing over a stone. Salt, which acts as an information carrier and link in this transformation, enables the unification of mineral and plant information, and thus also connects with the stories that are stored in the different materials.
In this work, the artist transcends the boundaries drawn between different materials (e.g. organic and inorganic) and considers all components of an environment as sentient and communicative beings. The environmental information that is carried by stones, which often goes back very far in time, is combined with comprehensive knowledge about an entire ecosystem that can often be found in plants.
